I am an eleventh grader at Bronxville High School and as part of an AP Language project, I am studying your opinion articles (my favorite is the Myth of Asian American Identity).
Because of this, I think you are the best qualified person to ask about the new term “wasian”.
It has been popularized as a trend on TikTok- I’m sure you have seen the “Wasian check” videos.
My question is: what does the word “wasian” mean to you? What do you think are some connotations of the word? Is there a Wasian identity, and why is this term so popular now? Or do you have any bonus meditations on the word?
